Customs sets reference prices for corvina

The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) established reference prices for corvina as part of its strategy to combat evasion and abusive maneuvers.

The decision was made through General Resolution No. 4819/2020, published this Wednesday (23.09.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX) in the Official Gazette, in which the Reference value for corvina in a range between 1,05 dollars per kilo and 1,50 dollars per kilo, depending on their tariff position and their country of destination.

Regulation It focuses on corvina that is exported to Canada, the United States, all African countries and some Asian destinations, such as North Korea, South Korea, China, the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand and Hong Kong.

To calculate the reference values, the Customs Office conducted various value studies and held meetings with the association "Intercámaras de la Industria Pesquera Argentina", whose members contributed information provided by the Chamber of Exporting Fishing Refrigerators (Cafrexport) and proposed ranges of export values ​​according to the destination, the sources specified, as quoted by the Télam agency.

Consultations were also held with the Undersecretary of Fisheries and Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, clarified the measure signed by the head of the DGA Silvia Traverso.

This resolution is added to others applied previously where reference prices were set for exports of onions, powdered milk, raisins and potatoes..

The national tax collection agency stressed that "reference values ​​are a tool that allows identifying export under-invoicing operations, an abusive maneuver that aims to fraudulently minimize the tax burden."

"In addition, under the exchange market management scheme, under-invoicing of foreign trade works as a mechanism to limit the entry of foreign currency into the country. Specifically, any export declared below these values ​​enables the DGA to initiate an investigation," AFIP stressed.
