Last week, Guatemala announced a measure that strengthens international logistics through an effective alliance between the public and private sectors. The Customs Office of the Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) announced the Courier Manifest – Authorized Economic Operator (AEO)) for importers authorized as AEO at the DHL Express Guatemala SA Temporary Customs Warehouse, based at the main airport in the Central American country.
This measure will contribute to improvements in process flows for certified operators. Precisely, "logistical times will pass from approximately 3 hours to 15 minutes”, SAT said in a statement.
“This new action is a joint effort between SAT and DHL Express Guatemala, as part of the fulfillment of the objectives of SAT's 2021-2025 Institutional Strategic Plan to comprehensively modernize the Customs Service,” he added.
Committed to trade facilitation, the SAT promotes the use of international standards and regulations that allow for greater efficiency in commercial operations. In this regard, it stated to this media that Strengthening compliance with benefits for AEOs authorized by Guatemalan Customs is in accordance with Central American customs regulations.
The important activity was presided over by the Superintendent of Customs, Werner Ovalle Ramírez; the General Manager of DHL Express Guatemala, Juan Carlos Ramírez, and the Director of the Center for Studies for Economic Integration of SIECA, Desiree García. Also present were the President of CLADEC (Latin America Express Delivery), Marco Martínez, and the Director of Regulatory and Customs Affairs of DHL for CSA and Operations and Gateway Manager of DHL Express Guatemala, Fernando De León.
