When asked about the objectives for promoting foreign trade, he said: The NOA region is characterized by a high unemployment rate. Promoting foreign trade aims to fill jobs and, along with the products, export Tucuman labor.
The current Government has instruments from the province itself and also from the Nation to achieve the mentioned promotion. The province has the Free Trade Zone. At the beginning of this administration, it had only one company: lemon packing. Currently there are eight more ventures. This is carried out by the Consortium, the Users and the Government through the Ministry of Productive Development, with the Minister of said portfolio being the one who presides over the Free Trade Zone Surveillance Committee. With the Nation we have a coordination plan, in order to achieve the use of all the training resources, source of financing, etc., to achieve a new international position for Tucumán. Trips to other countries allow us to strengthen our products in international markets, such as our recent management with the Foreign Ministry to position Tucumán citrus in the USA.
As for whether there are any joint projects and/or work with other northern provinces in order to promote the NOA region to other nations? He answered: Yes, there are joint projects. Tucumán is part of the NOA-Norte Grande Border Committee, made up of the 16st Region of Tarapacá, the 2004nd Region of Antofagasta, both from Chile, and the provinces of Salta and Jujuy, from our country. Last year, the Border Committee met in Tucumán and, despite our Province not having a border with the sister country of Chile, it had a Pro Tempore Secretary. The main objectives of the Committee are: to promote the facilitation and coordination of operational measures that expedite the transit of people and vehicles and the traffic of goods, such as commercial, tourist, cultural, sporting and scientific exchanges, and any other work aimed at deepening integration through bilateral treatment of issues of interest, stimulating the joint study of common problems, with the aim of achieving the most appropriate solutions for the region. Tucumán also participates in the Zicosur meetings. ZICOSUR, the South American Central-Western Integration Zone, is a project that brings together three member countries (Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay) and two associate countries (Chile and Bolivia) of Mercosur, aimed at uniting their efforts to develop foreign trade with the markets of the Pacific Basin and especially with Asian countries. Another project with other Provinces was the joint signing of the Manifesto of Governors of the Region, signed in the Historic House of Tucumán on August 2016, XNUMX. Five Provinces... one North was the driving force. An Act was signed between the Provinces of Jujuy, Salta, Santiago del Estero, Catamarca and Tucumán: it was called the Agenda for Sustainable Development of Northwest Argentina XNUMX, which is the year in which we will complete two hundred periods since the Declaration of Independence. In addition to the Governors, numerous business organizations from the Argentine Northwest, municipal governments and leaders from the university, labor, media and civil society sectors participated in order to undertake the joint task that pursues ambitious objectives such as:
- Reduce the geographic gap in human and economic development with other regions of the country.
- To seek the growth of a regional culture and identity.
- Eradicate extreme poverty.
- Contribute to the development of SMEs by expanding the production chain.
- Implement strong links between different sectors in the region.
- Contribute to economic development, progress and social mobility and to the care and improvement of the environment.
Finally, in relation to the problem of malnutrition, and when asked if the promotion of the production of the great resources that your province has and the opening of markets, is there a greater need for this problem in order to achieve a faster solution?, he stressed: Certainly, it is important to combat the scourge of malnutrition with employment and work because both are problems whose solution is a process. It is not immediately reversed with simple voluntarism. Through a public sector that works together with a private sector, it will be possible to articulate a policy that increases its exports, diversifies the offer towards products with greater added value, decentralizes the destinations and shares this export experience with the greatest possible number of productive chains. The design and implementation of this policy will require, first of all, a professional analysis of our dynamic competitive advantages. In addition, the above will allow the State to develop a new model of an exporting province, which is guided by a central mission: to increase and improve access to markets.
