The Government of El Salvador organized on Thursday (03.10.2024) the dissemination workshop of the Regional Mobility and Logistics Master Plan 2035 (PM2035), an ambitious project that seeks to transform the connectivity infrastructure in the six countries of Central America. The event, supported by the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), highlighted the priority infrastructure projects that are already underway in this Central American country.
In this regard, the SIECA He explained that “PM2035 is a key planning tool that integrates the infrastructure investment plans of Central American countries, with the aim of improving the mobility of people, goods and services throughout the region.” This plan not only seeks to optimize intra- and extra-regional trade, but also to promote the economic and social development of the region. “On this occasion, particular emphasis was placed on projects that benefit the region,” he said. During the PM2025 socialization activity, the Minister of Public Works and Transport of El Salvador, Romeo Rodríguez, He presented the priority projects of the Master Plan, several of which are already in execution, highlighting that this plan is articulated and complements the connectivity projects promoted by the Government of El Salvador. In addition, he emphasized the importance of a coordinated implementation with neighboring countries, highlighting the positive impact that these projects will have on regional integration and on strengthening connectivity in Central America.
The workshop was attended by international organizations such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and SIECA, as well as key representatives from the public, private and academic sectors. In addition, the collaboration of strategic partners such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the European Union was highlighted, who have committed resources to strengthen regional logistics corridors and improve the competitiveness of the region.
One of the main objectives of PM2035 is to strengthen Central America's trade relations with international markets, such as the United States, the European Union and Asia. In this sense, the document is presented as an opportunity to establish a modern and efficient infrastructure in the region.
