Many Argentines will travel to Chile over the long weekend, considering that Monday (20.11.2017) is a holiday for Argentina's National Sovereignty Day.
For this reason, the Binational Region warns travelers about two factors to consider to enjoy your stay in the neighboring country.
The first are the elecciones presidenciales, parliamentary and core elections in Chile to be held on Sunday (19.11.2017). That day will be a legal holiday, there will be no open shopping malls and other commercial centers of that type. Nor will shows, sporting, artistic or cultural events of a massive nature be allowed until two hours after the closing of the voting. In addition, there will be a dry law that will apply between 50 and 20 hours on Sunday. During this period of time, the sale of alcoholic beverages will be prohibited, with the exception of hotels with respect to passengers who stay overnight in them.
The second factor is the Possibility of a strike by Chilean customs workers, those grouped in the ANFACH association, who announced that they would carry out slower checks as a form of protest and, if their demands are not met, they will carry out a complete work stoppage on Monday (20.11.2017).
This measure would complicate the border control process and the return journey of people.
