The Grand Prix of the Americas race was held this Sunday (16.04.2023) at the Austin Circuit (United States). The third stop of the Motorcycle World Championship arrived at that track after having previously been held at the Termas de Río Hondo Racetrack, located in the Province of Santiago del Estero, Argentina.
How was the Motorcycle World Championship in Argentina?
From the Customs perspective, the Moto2 (April 2022) was a Test of fire for logistics of the organization, which must control the entry and exit of the large amount of equipment involved.
For the purposes of the championship, the competing motorcycles, their engines, various spare parts, tires, accessories and tools, control and measurement material, television, audio and sound equipment, logistical support material, cars, communication equipment, hospitality and complementary goods (for example: five entire kitchens) entered the country.
It should be noted that such goods entered the country as a temporary import suspension destination, as established by the Article 250 of the Customs Code. Under the regime of temporary import Goods are exempt from import duties, provided they are re-exported within the period determined at the time of entry.
How did these goods get to the country?
Imports of these goods arrived by sea in Approximately 20 containers through port terminals of Buenos AiresSome of the boxes were checked and released at the port, while others entered in transit, with monitored seals, to be checked and released at the Termas de Río Hondo circuit by customs personnel stationed there.
In this way, the merchandise arrived at Tucuman airport en four planes large cargo ships, controlled by Customs agents in that area and transshipped in no less than forty trucks towards the Termas racetrack.

Once the sporting event was over, all the merchandise that had been brought in temporarily had to return abroad, after being checked by customs personnel at the racetrack, from where the containers were dispatched to different ports.

To do this, the forty trucks went to the Tucumán airport to complete the departure from the country by air.
Both at entry and exit, the Customs personnel carried out the physical control of the merchandise, where inspectors, guards and dogs intervened.

It is important to note that the Argentine Customs similarly addressed nine events during 2022 . In detail:
- Superbike San Juan: October 1, 22 and 23, 2022.
- TCR South America 2022: February 05-14, 2022 in San Juan, La Rioja and Catamarca.
- 2022 Argentine Rally Championship: The top rally category in Argentina. Competitions take place throughout the year in the provinces of Buenos Aires, La Rioja, Córdoba, Neuquén, Catamarca, Río Negro, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos.
- III South American Youth Games Rosario 2022: They took place in Rosario, Province of Santa Fe, from April 28 to May 08, 2022.
- Michelin Grand Prix of the Argentine Republic of MotoGP: The most important international competition in the field of speed motorcycling, held at the Termas de Río Hondo International Circuit, in the province of Santiago del Estero, from April 01 to 03, 2022
- TCR Codasur FIA Rally 2022: Córdoba Province – April and November 2022
- Argentine Republic Superbike World Championship-ARGWorldSBK-2022: World Championship organized by the International Motorcycling Federation. San Juan Province, October 21-23, 2022
- Porsche Carrera Cup 2022: August 02 to 16, 2022. Competition held at the Termas de Río Hondo International Racetrack.
- Dakar Rally: Held in our country in 2009-2018, from 2019 it is being held in Saudi Arabia: Argentina acts as a consolidation and export instance for South American teams.
