The Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC) released its report on bilateral trade last week, at the beginning of September. According to the report, trade between Argentina and Brazil reached August 2025 US$2.672 billion, which represented a year-on-year increase of 14,4%.

Negative balance

This result is due to the fact that, while the Argentine exports totaled US$ 1.029 million, with a drop of 11,7% compared to August 2024 and 6,6% compared to July, the imports from Brazil reached US$ 1.642 million, with a year-on-year increase of 40,4% and a decrease of 1,2% compared to July 2025. As a result, The monthly deficit was US$613 million, accumulating US$4.142 billion in the first eight months of 2025., in contrast to the surplus of US$220 million recorded in the same period last year.

Sectoral exchange

According to the CAC, the fall in exports was mainly explained by lower shipments of passenger and cargo vehicles, automotive parts and engines. For its part, the growth in imports was due to increased imports of automobiles, spare parts, trucks, engines, and electric power.

Role of Argentina

Argentina maintains the same position: as a supplier to Brazil it was located in fourth place, behind China, the United States and Germany, and as a buyer, it remained third, after China and the United States.

Brazilian trade

Globally, Brazil increased its exports by 3,9% in August compared to 2024 and reduced its imports by 2,1%. Thus, recorded a surplus of US$6.139 billion, the sixth consecutive month with a positive balance.
