Five more Argentine meat processing plants will export beef to the United States. This was announced on Monday (07.10.2019) by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, Luis Miguel Etchevehere, within the framework of an official visit to the United States.
«These announcements are concrete facts. They are a more than eloquent example of the success of Argentina's policy of opening up to the world, and of the trust generated in the four years of President Macri's administration with the main powers of the planet.", said the minister at the end of the meeting he held with the Undersecretary of Foreign Trade and International Agricultural Affairs, Ted McKinney.
The Food Safety and Inspection Agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (FSIS/USDA) published that the new authorized slaughterhouses are Quickfood SA, Logros SA, Forres-Beltrán SA, Azul Natural Beef SA and Alberdi SA With this announcement, 16 plants are authorized to export meat to the United States.
The announcement took place at the 6th meeting of the Joint Argentina-United States Agri-Food Advisory Committee, where a review of the bilateral agro-industrial agenda was carried out, in which Etchevehere stressed the importance for our country of opening the market for sweet citrus fruits from the NEA and NOA, as well as the recognition of the Patagonia Norte A region as a foot-and-mouth disease-free zone without vaccination, and the interest in exporting bovine genetics and sheep meat.
Both countries also highlighted their joint work within the framework of Codex, the development of biotechnology and the Maximum Residue Limit, stressing the need for sanitary measures to be adopted based on scientific criteria. It is worth remembering that the reopening of boneless, chilled or frozen beef to the US market after 17 years was notified to Senasa in November.
The official delegation is made up of the Argentine ambassador to the United States, Fernando Oris De Roa; the president of Senasa, Ricardo Negri; the National Director of International Agroindustrial Markets, Maximiliano Moreno; and the Argentine Agricultural Advisor to the United States, José Molina.
