China's software and information technology sector posted faster growth in the first six months of the year, official data showed.
The sector generated 2,9 trillion yuan (about 430.000 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue in the first half of 2018, up 14,4 percent year on year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said in a statement.
Fast growth
The growth rate was slightly higher than in the first five months and faster than the increase in 13,6 percent from a year ago.
The sector maintained stable development, the ministry said, citing double-digit profit growth, a growing number of employees and rising wage levels. Combined profits for the sector rose 10,5 percent to 358.000 billion yuan in the first half of the year.
In the first half of the year, however, software exports grew only 2,6 percent to $25.300 billion, slowing from 4,2 percent in the January-May period.
