The leaders of Bolivia and Switzerland signed a cooperation agreement on Thursday (14.12.2017) for an ambitious project to build a railway through South America, crossing the Andes mountain range and connecting the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
The Central Bioceanic Railway Corridor (CFBC) would cost at least US $ 10.000 million and would involve the construction of a line of 3.750 kilometers from the Brazilian port of Santos to the Peruvian terminal of Ilo.
The Swiss government said it would provide the technical competence for the project under the memorandum of understanding signed by the two countries in Bern.
Evo Morales said that there were also German companies interested in the corridor, which could speed up the export of corn and soybeans to Asia, while the governments of Paraguay and Uruguay, as well as those of Peru and Brazil,
