Ricardo Treviño Chapa, former head of the General Customs Administration (AGA) of Mexico was elected this Thursday (14.12.2017) as Deputy General Secretary of the World Customs Organization (WCO), a position he will assume as of January 1, 2018.
"Mexico is a very active member of the WCO and has contributed to the development of many of the organization's instruments. I look forward to working closely with Ricardo as the new Deputy Secretary General,” said WCO Secretary General, Kunio Mikuriya, it's a statement.
Treviño Chapa worked as General Administrator of the Evaluation and Internal Affairs Department of the Tax Administration Service where he was responsible for developing actions to prevent and combat corruption, as well as strengthening transparency, according to the OMA's writing.
During his 15-year career in the public sector, he served as Director General of Revenue Collection in the government of the State of Mexico, as Director General of the Social Security Institute of the State of Mexico, and at the Institute for the Protection of Bank Savings.
