The foreign ministers of Argentina and Paraguay signed on Wednesday (21.3.2019) the notes to enable circulation on the crest of the Yacyretá dam, between the cities of Ayolas and Ituzaingó.
In addition, the agreement and document for the relocation of the free trade zone for Paraguay to the port of Rosario was signed.
The agreements were signed by Foreign Ministers Jorge Faurie and Luis Castiglioni, in the presence of Presidents Mauricio Macri and Mario Abdo, who participated in the United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation, this Wednesday in the Argentine capital.
The decision was taken by the leaders last December during the last Summit of Heads of State of Mercosur, last December.
The measure is “an example of integration” between both countries and that the Yacyretá Binational Entity “will not only generate energy, but the dam will be an international bridge”, said Foreign Minister Castiglioni.
This decision will benefit tourism exchange, commercial and tourist activities for the department of Misiones and the southern region of the country, authorities emphasize.
For its part, the Yacyretá Binational Entity (EBY) announced that authorities from the department of Misiones, in Paraguay, and the province of Corrientes, in Argentina, would meet at the end of that afternoon to advance the details of the project that will enable Paraguay to have three international bridges with Argentina.
