The Government has formally granted the oil company Total Austral an authorization to export surplus natural gas to Chile, on an uninterruptible basis, for a maximum volume of seven hundred and fifty thousand cubic meters (750.000 m³/day), which will be counted as part of the total volume authorized to be exported.
The decision was made based on a Resolution 132/2019 of the Secretary of Energy, published this Thursday (21.3.2019) in the Official Gazette.
As provided, the authorization will be valid until 6 a.m. on June 2020, XNUMX."or until completing the total maximum amount equivalent to the authorized daily export volume for the number of days of validity of this authorization since its granting, whichever occurs first."
"The supplies provided for in this authorization may be interrupted in order to guarantee the security of supply to the domestic market," according to the official text.
The gas to be exported comes from the exploitation concessions of the Cuenca Marina Austral -1 area (jurisdictions of the Province of Tierra del Fuego and Nacional) destined for Methanex Chile SpA (Methanex).
The company will have to submit to the National Gas Regulatory Entity (ENARGAS) the respective contract from which the condition of interruptibility and the absence of compensation in the event of such interruption must arise.
Thus, Gustavo Lopetegui's portfolio established that "it is pertinent to grant the request and grant the authorization to export surplus natural gas under the indicated terms."
