Within the framework of the State visit of the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, to Argentina, the foreign ministers of both countries, Diana Mondino for Argentina and Alexandra Hill Tinoco for El Salvador, signed a series of bilateral and inter-institutional agreements at the San Martín Palace, according to official sources reported this Tuesday (01.10.2024). The agreements seek to consolidate the relationship between both nations in areas such as culture, nuclear energy, airport interconnection, and citizen security, among others.

According to the Argentine Foreign Ministry, one of the highlights was the signing of a Convention of Cultural Cooperation, which will allow for exchanges in cultural heritage, visual, cinematographic and performing arts, and other cultural expressions such as music and dance. A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the diplomatic institutes of both nations, strengthening cooperation in diplomatic training.

Another key agreement was the Letter of Intent for the creation of a Airport Hub, with the aim of promoting greater air interconnections between the two countries. In addition, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed nuclear energy, which establishes collaboration in the training of human resources between the National Atomic Energy Commission of Argentina and the Agency for the Implementation of the Nuclear Energy Program of El Salvador.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Security highlighted the signing of a joint declaration between the ministers of security, of both countries, which marks a "commitment and cooperation" in the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking, with a doctrine that prioritizes territorial control and public security.

It should be noted that the visit of the President of El Salvador also included a High-Level Business Meeting at the San Martín Palace, where investment and trade opportunities were discussed, with special interest in sectors such as technology, food and industrial machinery, highlighting the will of both countries to strengthen their economic and commercial ties.

These agreements mark a renewed push in the bilateral relationship and consolidate a common agenda on issues for mutual cooperation between Argentina and El Salvador. To this end, the need to promote actions that favor an increase in bilateral trade and investment flows was emphasized, with promotional activities planned for 2024, such as a Trade Mission of the Auto Parts Sector to El Salvador.
