At the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs outlined “the main challenges” facing the country, as well as the priorities and vision in terms of foreign policy and international trade, both within the region and globally.” She also stressed that “Argentina seeks to position itself as a reliable supplier in the supply chain of critical minerals and energy, among other goods and services of interest to both countries.”
To this end, he raised the need to continue working on a greater opening of the US market for Argentine exports, which would allow for expanding the base of bilateral trade and leveling the trade balance. According to official data, the United States is Argentina's third largest trading partner and the main foreign investor, with an investment stock of more than USD 26.000 billion (as of June 2023).
Among other topics, the Argentine entry into the OECD and the willingness to participate in the Alliance for Economic Prosperity in the Americas (APEP), as well as cooperation on nuclear, space, security, defense and human rights issues.
Since Javier Milei's presidency, which began with his inauguration on December 10, 2023, Argentina and the United States have reaffirmed their shared interests to expand such cooperation.
