The National Customs Authority of Panama received this Monday (08.04.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) the specialist of the Regional Technical Assistance Center (Captac DR) of the IMF, Héctor Garza, who will follow up on the Technical Assistance related to strengthening post-clearance inspection of goods.

The four-day event, which includes the participation of customs auditors, began in 2021. In this first session of 2024, the milestones and progress of the implemented roadmap will be reviewed, as well as the proposed agenda.

This includes new working methods for the Audit Directorate, an annual plan and the creation of job profiles. Head of Customs, Tayra Barsallo welcomed the participants of this training and referred to the improvement of the entity's collections.

Modern control

Post-clearance auditing is a modern control methodology for Customs and other regulatory authorities. According to ANA, its objective is to "guarantee transparency and the efficient use of information technologies, so that those operators/items that pose a risk to the country can be audited." The purpose of the model is to generate voluntary compliance by operators with customs regulations and procedures.
