AFIP decided to speed up the foreign purchasing mechanism.
The changes were announced through the General Resolution 4141 published on Monday (09.10.2017) in the Official Gazette:
The procedure for subjects who receive shipments of merchandise from abroad is replaced, unifying the settlement of the single customs tariff and the “Service and storage rate” of the Argentine Post Office.
When you are required to pay a single tariff of 50% on the value of the product, you must appear at the Official Post Office or at the corresponding Customs, with the “Simplified declaration of international postal shipments” and proof of payment made.
The fee payment must be made through the Electronic Payment Voucher (VEP), within 24 hours of the moment you generated it, and must include the settlement of the “Service and storage fee” corresponding to the Argentine Post Office.
remember that the customs service, after verifying the merchandise, may request a rectifying sworn declaration of the value and the corresponding additional payment.
This regulation has been in effect since October 9, 2017 and will be applicable to telegrams issued by the Argentine Post Office from October 10, 2017.
