Companies have expressed interest in offering flights to the Falkland Islands with a stopover in Argentina, the Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday (1.3.2018).

"At the end of the period set by the governments of Argentina and the United Kingdom, Several airlines based in Brazil, Chile and Uruguay They expressed their interest in presenting concrete proposals for new regular flights to the Malvinas Islands, with periodic stops in continental Argentina," the Foreign Ministry said.

The proposals submitted by the companies "must be evaluated by the competent aeronautical authorities, from the point of view of its viability and convenience, based on which the corresponding authorizations will be granted in due course," explained the portfolio led by Jorge Faurie.

These flights will be carried out within the framework of the Joint Declaration and Exchange of Notes signed under the sovereignty formula by the Governments of Argentina and the United Kingdom on July 14, 1999, which constitutes the legal basis for flights between third countries and the Malvinas Islands," said the statement from the San Martín Palace.
