Chilean Customs presents Hermes, a system for container control and traceability

The National Customs Service, in its supervisory role at the country's border crossings and seaports, has presented Hermes, a technological solution designed to improve processes and strengthen its role as a supervisory body, according to the official statement released this Tuesday (March 10, 2026).

The presentation included the participation of National Director of Customs, Alejandra Arriaza, together with regional directors, administrators and heads of the Audit Department. Hermes is a modular control and monitoring system that allows online access to the traceability of containers and associated goods through electronic messaging between different logistics actors.speeding up processes and improving the quality of information available to officials.

During the event, the system's progress and its contribution to strengthening oversight capabilities were highlighted, allowing real-time information on the movement of containers entering, moving, or leaving the country.

National Director Alejandra Arriaza praised the work of the Hermes team, highlighting their technical skills and resilience.This project is the result of the commitment and experience of our officials, who, based on their operational knowledge, designed and implemented a strategic tool for customs control.”he said.

Arriaza gave special recognition to the team led by Rodrigo Reyes, from the Valparaíso Regional Customs Office, and Marcelo Meléndez, from the Coquimbo Customs Officeas well as to all the professionals who participated in the development.

For his part, the Deputy Director of Auditing, José Luis Castro, highlighted the joint effort and the project's impact on strengthening institutional capacities for control and information analysis. The development also benefited from the Support from the Subdirectorate of Informatics, responsible for the technical and technological support of the implementation.

By 2026, work will begin on phase 2 of the project, which includes integration with warehouse operators nationwide. through online messaging, managing warehouse changes in real time and notifying inspection selections (Capacity, Documentation, Scanning and Physical Examination) to accredited warehouse workers through Hermes.

Hermes represents a significant advance in the modernization of Chilean customs, consolidating the use of technology to streamline processes and strengthen security and traceability in international trade.
