In order to expedite the entry of donations into Mexico, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) reported that through customs offices throughout the country, the introduction of merchandise to be donated will be authorized without the payment of foreign trade taxes, nor the use of a customs declaration or agent, and the donation process will be resolved in one day.
The measure will be applied on days September 20, 21 and 22, 2017 in Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos and Puebla as a result of the earthquake, the statement said.
The requirements that the merchandise must meet for the Importation of donations are the following:
1. It must be donated by a foreign resident 2. It must respond to the basic subsistence requirements in terms of food, clothing, housing, education, civil protection or health of people, sectors and regions with limited resources.
A free written document must be submitted to customs, detailing the merchandise to be donated and the entity responsible for the handling, custody and destination of said merchandise.
