The Government of Argentina has incorporated this Monday (10.06.2024) into its legal system the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Vehicle Approvals, which was signed with the Federative Republic of Brazil on September 22, 2022.
The incorporation into the national sphere was formalized with the Resolution 114 / 2024 published in the Official Gazette; this implies the obligation and the need to apply the obligations assumed by the National State in the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Vehicle Homologations. That is, the procedure by which the competent body certifies the conformity of vehicles with current vehicle safety standards and authorizes the circulation of a certain vehicle in the country.
To this end, the standard indicates the procedures and requirements for the issuance of the Model Configuration Licenses (LCM), by the Undersecretariat of Productive Management of the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce of the Ministry of Economy. In other words, the granting of the document that certifies the vehicle's compliance with national vehicle safety requirements and which is a requirement for vehicles to be able to circulate on public roads.
It should be noted that such mutual recognition of homologations strengthens cooperation between Argentina and Brazil to facilitate trade in motor vehicles and promptly address market access problems, improve vehicle safety and strengthen the regulatory institutions of both countries, while ensuring environmental protection.
