The Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) issued this Wednesday (17.08.2022) a Workshop on Information Security in Customs and Border Crossings to representatives from the entire Central American region.
The purpose of the workshop was to assess the challenges that the region currently faces in terms of information security for the management of intra- and extra-regional trade.
To this end, good practices and national and regional gaps were identified that must be addressed to strengthen customs cybersecurity through an appropriate combination of three elements: capacity building, technological tools and protocols.
The activity also sought to promote the use of INTERPOL databases to combat crimes in the region.
This activity is particularly relevant in central initiatives such as the Central American Digital Trade Platform, financed by the European Union, coordinated by the IDB and executed by SIECA, which seeks to facilitate regional trade, reduce business costs and increase the competitiveness of the participating countries: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.
Aduana News is the first Argentine customs newspaper to launch its digital version. With 20 years of experience, its publications and initiatives aim to provide the most relevant knowledge on customs issues in order to contribute to safe trade in the region.
