Customs revenue from online auctions increases 196,90% year-on-year in September

The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) collection through online auctions marks a 196,90% year-on-year increase between September 2022 and September 2023, and projects an annual positive balance of $433 million at the end of the year, official sources reported on Monday (09.10.2023).

According to the DGA, the merchandise being auctioned is very varied, given that iPhones, computers, top brand alcoholic beverages, precious metal pieces, video game consoles, cars, motorcycles, trucks and even a boat, among other goods, are on offer.

The customs administration said that the Auctions will continue during October and silverware, cell phones, tablets, computers, a video game console, other electronic items and soybeans will be offered, with a total base value of $45 million.

He also recalled that the auctions are held online at the City Bank website and all persons of legal age can participate, from anywhere in the country.

«With these actions, Customs closes procedures that, given the verification of violations of foreign trade, "They result in the seizure of merchandise. In addition to contributing to revenue, they also free up space in warehouses that would otherwise represent an additional expense for the State," according to the same official source.
