The Customs Museum reopens and will be part of the Night of Museums: the details

This Saturday, September 23, from 19 p.m. to 1 a.m., the Customs Museum will reopen the doors of its headquarters located at Azopardo 350 (Buenos aires city) and will participate in the Night of the Museums. Residents and tourists will be able to enjoy for free a cultural space that narrates and shows the more than 400 years of history that the body has.

The chronicle tells that, in 1536, Pedro de Mendoza performed customs functions in the Port of Buenos Aires and in 1586 the first official record of an import operation was made. These dates are considered the main milestones in the history of Customs.

Programme

The museum presents a immersive proposal where, in addition to exhibiting items used by customs personnel during different periods, visitors will be able to enjoy interactive and entertaining exhibits for audiences of all ages. One of the main objectives of the space is to tell the story of the Customs Office in its different periods and it does so through original documents, testimonies, photographs, videos, paintings and artifacts from the activity.

You will also be able to learn, through photographic documents, about the different headquarters that the organization had until reaching its current location. Customs Palace, where the museum is located. The building is 113 years old and was inaugurated in 1910 by President José Figueroa Alcorta as part of the celebrations of the Centennial of the May Revolution.

Guided tours

Guided tours will be available at the Customs Palace to see every corner of the building that was declared National Historic Monument in 2009; activities scheduled for the 19:30 p.m.; 21:00 p.m. and 23:00 p.m.

Dogs and music

Also they Customs dogs will play a leading role during the day and will demonstrate searches alongside their guides to show the work they do every day in ports, airports, border crossings and customs controls throughout the country. During the evening there will also be shows of tango, folklore, orchestral and electronic music.
