Peru approves law to strengthen VUCE 2.0

On the path to generating a technological platform to facilitate foreign trade procedures, Peru approved Law 2592, in the Congress session of October 3, 2018, which allows the strengthening of the Single Window for Foreign Trade (VUCE), presented by the National Executive Branch.

The initiative allows for streamlining and reducing costs in border trade and international transport processes, through the automation of internal processes of institutions, according to the standard. 

The novelty of the rule is to establish a Information exchange platform related to trade and transport, with the corresponding legal support.

According to the regulations, the figure of the Advance Resolutions for restricted goods. In addition, inspections are replaced by controls using electronic information. It makes it possible to provide services to the maritime port trade community, promoting the constitution of a Port Community System model. It also includes the possibility of providing services to the Special Economic Zones.

According to the approved initiative, the VUCE will be the only channel for interoperability of information and documentation on foreign trade with the outside world.

The VUCE was created in 2006 and began operating in 2010In March 2018, the Ministry of Commerce and Tourism submitted to the Peruvian Congress Bill 2592, "Law to Strengthen the Single Window for Foreign Trade", with the aim of improving its operations and allowing for the expansion of its services.
