The National Customs Authority (ANA) implemented the pilot plan for the digitalization of the Traveler's Affidavit in Terminal 2 of Tocumen International Airport, with the aim of providing a faster and safer service.
According to the press release from the Panama Customs Service, this project will also allow for a reduction in response times in the management of subsequent queries regarding declarations, 100% elimination of paper, among other benefits.
It was reported that during this test period, devices were used where travelers had access to the digital form through a QR code, which allowed them to fill out the traveler's declaration from their cell phone and the information is automatically reflected at the control point, where the customs officer verifies the declaration to determine its entry into the country.
During the pilot plan, some findings were detected that will allow adjustments to be made to the system. The date of mass release for the start of this project will be communicated later.
Aduana News is the first Argentine customs newspaper to launch its digital version. With 20 years of experience, its publications and initiatives aim to provide the most relevant knowledge on customs issues in order to contribute to safe trade in the region.
