Mercosur to evaluate agreements with EU in Paraguay

-

Four Mercosur member countries are in Paraguay to evaluate trade agreements with the European Union in accordance with the guidelines of the Free Trade Agreement.

The foreign ministers of Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, member countries of Mercosur, will meet this Friday (16-03-2018) in Asucnión to continue the round of negotiations on the trade agreement with the European Union.

The Foreign Ministers of Argentina, Jorge Faurie, of Brazil, Aloysio Nunes, of Uruguay, Rodolfo Nin Novoa, and of Paraguay, Eladio Loizaga, will evaluate the points to be discussed during this week.

Loizaga said that this type of "negotiation meeting must have a high degree of confidentiality since this meeting imposes this attitude."

The aim of this meeting is to define agreements and then wait for the European Union to express its point of view and respond to the claims made by Mercosur in agricultural matters.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Services of Brazil, Marcos Jorge, and the Minister of Production of Argentina, Francisco Cabrera, will also be present at the meeting.
