During a routine inspection, Customs was able to detect irregularities in an import through the Courier service of the Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Ezeiza, discovering that they were trying to import top brand merchandise that did not match those presented in the import declaration.
The agency stated that a total of 1.157 chargers and cables for cell phones and notebooks of alternative brands had been declared with a customs value of USD 11.561, when in reality there were 2.891 units of top brands with an approximate customs value of $8.255.308, according to the exchange rate of $132,20, according to the import clearance.
In addition, the merchandise was prohibited from importing because it did not comply with the electrical safety certification in accordance with Resolution 169/2018 of the Ministry of Commerce.
In light of this, Customs stressed that it will proceed with the application of the relevant infraction and criminal actions related to trademark fraud.
