The Government of Santa Fe awarded this Friday (22.09.2017) the first part of the Expansion of the Islas Malvinas International Airport, with a planned investment of 600 million pesos to double the commercial platform and increase the number of aircraft parking positions to eight.

"The future expansion of the terminal is designed for a capacity of 3 million passengers., that is, four times more than the current one, which was 700 thousand," said the governor of Santa Fe, Miguel Lifschitz, during an event.

The first section of the work was awarded to the Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) formed by the companies Obring and Helcort.

The head of the airport, Matías Galíndez, said that "we have put together a plan that begins with this work and will continue with the building, the parking lot and the equipment." He pointed out that the total planned investment - including the next stages of the work - will add up to around "2 billion pesos in the next five years."

According to the work plan, the Province intends to expand the boarding and arrival halls for domestic flights, with the addition of a second baggage conveyor belt for simultaneous handling of flights. In the international sector, the surface area will be expanded and in the arrival hall, the services will be redesigned and modernized for the comfort of passengers, reported the AIR.
