Guatemala and the Dominican Republic signed an agreement to recognize Authorized Economic Operators

-

The Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) of Guatemala and the National Customs Directorate of the Dominican Republic signed on Friday (29.10.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX) a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) for Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) between both nations, in order to "Strengthening regional security and trade facilitation".

With this agreement, companies that are authorized by the SAT in Guatemala and certified by the National Customs Directorate of the Dominican Republic as Authorized Economic Operators will be able to access the benefits established in the program, which are related to streamlining trade procedures and being recognized as safe actors before the OAS authorities of both countries.

According to the National Customs Directorate of the Dominican Republic: "The arrangement implies that the Parties will accept the validation results and the certification status granted to the AEOs and proposes to grant the benefits established in their AEO programs that are compatible and in accordance with their applicable national legislation.”

On this occasion, the Dominican Republic customs service officially delivered 35 certificates to companies that now have the qualification of authorized economic operators.

It is worth mentioning that the AEO was adopted by the World Customs Organization (WCO) in 2005 under the Framework of Standards to Facilitate and Secure Trade (SAFE Framework), in order to improve and strengthen security in the international supply chain, through compliance with security requirements that guarantee reliability in the companies included in said program.
