Within the framework of the reopening of borders in the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, the General Directorate of Customs has issued Resolution 47/21, by which the suspension of the restrictive effects established by the pandemic has been arranged, resuming the validity of the articles of the Uruguayan Customs Code regarding luggage, vehicles and personal effects of tourists.
The aforementioned Resolution states that, given that the restrictive regulatory framework that had been imposed is no longer in force, it is necessary to adapt customs regulations to the rules in force in the Uruguayan Customs Code.
In consecuense, The validity of customs regulations is ratified, especially those determined with respect to the population settled in border areas of Uruguay regarding the entry of certain merchandise for personal and family use that is not specifically prohibited.
The resolution states that restrictive measures such as those previously mentioned may be reinstated when circumstances warrant it.
