-

As part of the strengthening of interoperability on the Pacific coast of Guatemala, the Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) and the Quetzal Port Company (EPA) launched this Monday (14.06.2021) the use of a  technological tool allowing Visualize customs and port traceability, as well as improving the maritime clearance process.

This action responds to the objectives of the Institutional Strategic Plan of the Guatemalan tax collection entity, reflected in the Comprehensive Customs Modernization Program, which articulates a series of initiatives focused on making customs an agency that draws on international good practices.

In this way, the SAT, in coordination with the private sector, implemented a new service that facilitates compliance with the Interinstitutional Action Protocol for joint inspections in the Central American country's seaportso. Thus, the initiative modernizes the customs management process by allowing the identification on the platform of the Temporary Customs Warehouse (DAT) of the Empresa Portuaria Quetzal (EPQ) which authority has retained or released the goods.

With interoperability in the exchange of information, positive conditions are generated that guarantee the security, of the goods, the modernization of foreign trade, and the improving revenue projections from the main customs office in Guatemala, according to SAT.
