Government updates interest rate on tax debts

-

The National Government has updated the interest rate on tax debts and will apply a 50 percent increase as of March 1, 2019.

This is what the 50 resolution published on Friday (8.2.2019) in the Official Gazette, where it provides for an increase in the compensatory interest rate from 3% to 4,5% and sets the punitive interest rate at 5,6%.

The measure is intended to adapt the aforementioned rates to current economic conditions, in order to encourage the timely payment of obligations and prevent delinquent taxpayers from financing their activities by failing to pay taxes.

The regulation, signed by Finance Minister Nicolás Dujovne, replaces resolution 314 of 2004.
