This working meeting brought together more than 80 representatives of the Customs and related public services of the Aysén Region of Chile and Patagonia in Argentina, and among the attendees were the Mayor of Aysén, Karina Acevedo, and the Provincial Governor of Coyhaique, Cristián López.

The Regional Director of Customs of Coyhaique, Víctor Valenzuela Millán, said that “we are very pleased because we are leading this administrative implementation process of the integrated complex, and the enthusiasm of the officials is extremely gratifying, as is the impact that the proximity of the opening of this complex has had on the authorities and the community.”

Among the conclusions The organizers highlight the following as the most important aspects of this seminar: 1. Carry out coordination and joint work actions. 2. Schedule and coordinate practical exercises before the start of operations of the crossing, a commitment assumed by Chilean Customs. 3. Hold future bilateral meetings to share experiences and compile good practices in terms of dissemination to citizens that could be applied to the new integrated complex Paso Huemules, which is in the final stages of reviewing its infrastructure before coming into operation within the next few weeks.

The Administrator of Border Crossings of the Province of Coyhaique, Lorits Hernández, presented the design, structure and operation of the facility from the Huemules pass, which will have the characteristic of being a “single-pass”, that is, Chilean and Argentine public services will work together in the same complex.

The Huemules Pass is located 55 kilometers southeast of Coyhaique in Chile, very close to the Balmaceda International Airport, and its completion required an investment of $7 billion.
