Bioceanic Corridor advances with 50,5% execution in all its subsections

-

The construction of the Bioceanic Road Corridor registers a 50,5% advance in all the sub-sections that are currently under construction, with embankment work and laying of the first two asphalt layers in two of them.

The most advanced sectors and those close to delivery total 30 km more (subsection 5 has 14 km and subsection 16 has 16 km), both on the Loma Plata and Carmelo Peralta sides.

The other sub-sections, 6, 7 and 8 in Loma Plata, as well as 13, 14 and 15 in Carmelo Peralta, show progress ranging from 2 to 13%, with earthmoving and embankment work. The sum of all these sections under construction gives a total of 50,5% accumulated progress.

It should be noted that the The Bioceanic Route already has 106 kilometers of paved and signposted route, of the total of 277 km planned, reported the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).

By the end of the year, the goal is to complete the first 10 subsections of the 20 into which this work was divided, according to the established schedule.

To achieve this goal, work continues on 8 different fronts, between the towns of Loma Plata, Boquerón and Carmelo Peralta Alto Paraguay.

In the case of sub-section 5, the progress of the works is 46%, while work is being done on all items ranging from the embankment to the first of the two asphalt layers that the route has.

For its part, in sub-section 16 on the Carmelo Peralta side, the execution is 44%, with similar works.

Added to this are sewerage works and wildlife crossings, which are special structures placed at strategic points along the corridor so that the various species of small, medium and large vertebrate mammals can cross from one fragment of forest to another safely.

It is worth noting that the structural package of the route is 76 centimetres thick and has an embankment of 1,30 metres on average. The total width of the road is 12 metres, with 2,5 metre shoulders on each side, and the roadway is 3,5 metres wide per lane.

The company in charge, the Bioceanic Road Corridor Consortium, made up of the Brazilian company Queiroz Galvão SA and the Paraguayan construction company Ocho A SA, employs around 1.500 workers and collaborators in the execution of this project.

On all fronts, the health protocol against Covid-19 is strictly followed, which includes hand washing, the use of masks and social distancing in the dining rooms, as well as in the transport units for the transfer of workers.

This mega project of the National Government is carried out using the "turnkey" modality and an investment of approximately 445 million dollars.

Once the entire route is completed from Carmelo Peralta (border with Brazil) to the Pozo Hondo area (border with Argentina), it will connect the most important seaports in both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. and will generate another 2.500 additional jobs, as well as countless opportunities for the towns of the Paraguayan Chaco.
