The National Commission for the Regulation of Transport (CNRT) has established procedures for installing speed limiters on cargo trucks, so that they do not exceed 90 kilometres per hour.
The device will be considered as a an essential requirement to pass the technical inspection and the measure will impact approximately 7.000 vehicles from the years 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The Ministry of Transport of the Nation specified this Wednesday (13.09.2017/3.500/500) that the procedure to verify the placement of speed limiters on cargo vehicles of more than 2017 kilograms was established through provision No. XNUMX/XNUMX of the CNRT.
The measure establishes a schedule that runs from October of this year to December 2018 to order technical inspections in which the installation of safety devices on trucks will be controlled.
It also indicates that from October 1 of this year and throughout that month, the first used cargo vehicles required to complete the procedure will be those of the 2015 model and those with a license plate ending in the numbers 0 and 1.
The verification will continue in the following months: November -ending in 2 and 3-, December -4 and 5-, January 2018 -6 and 7- and February -8 and 9-. As for the 2016 models: March 2018 -ending in 0 and 1-, April -2 and 3-, May -4 and 5-, June -6 and 7- and July -8 and 9-. Finally, the 2017 models manufactured before June 1: August 2018 -0 and 1-, September -2 and 3-, October -4 and 5-, November -6 and 7- and December -8 and 9-.
To install speed limiters, the carrier must request an appointment with an official dealer of the automotive factory corresponding to his vehicle, prior to the technical inspection at the authorized plants.
This regulation complements Resolution No. 19/16 of the Secretariat of Transportation Management of the Ministry of Transportation, which establishes the maximum speed limit for new and used vehicles used for passenger and cargo transportation under national jurisdiction and was designed to improve road safety, reduce fuel consumption, the emission of polluting gases into the environment and the maintenance costs of the units.
