Bolivia and Panama strengthen customs cooperation

The customs authorities of Bolivia and Panama signed last Wednesday (27.03.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) a  interinstitutional agreement to deepen cooperation and mutual assistance in matters relating to the implementation and enforcement of the customs legislation.

The agreement was sealed within the framework of the First Summit of Directors General of Customs of the Americas on illicit trade, which took place from March 25 to 28 in Panama.

This agreement focuses on facilitating legitimate trade, preventing and suppressing customs violations and offences, as well as reducing risks in the trade logistics chain.

For this purpose, the exchange of information and consultations "It is governed by the principles of confidentiality, assistance and reciprocity, and also has among its objectives the promotion of staff development programs," according to the Panamanian Customs note.

Clarifies that the instrument entered in force with your signature and will remain in effect until such time as either party decides to terminate it.

The agreement is signed by Karina L. Serrudo, Executive President of the National Customs of Bolivia and Tayra I. Barsallo, General Director of the National Customs Authority of Panama.

The First Summit of Customs Directors General of the Americas was organized by the National Customs Authority of Panama and the Transnational Alliance to Combat Illicit Trade (TRACIT), and brought together prominent leaders and experts in customs matters.
