Bolivia inaugurated a multipurpose facility on the border with Paraguay

The Bolivian Government inaugurated this Saturday (01.04.2023) the Multipurpose Enclosure in the Infante Rivarola – Cañada Oruro border crossing, located on the territorial border with Paraguay, reported the National Customs.

The statement said that the objective is to “attend to immigration, health and customs procedures in a coordinated manner, as well as respond to the demand for passenger and merchandise flows between both countries.” It also clarified that the infrastructure development was carried out with an amount of 150.227.489 bolivianos.

Specifically, the construction is located in 22 hectares of land and at a distance of 118 kilometers to the south of the municipality of Villamontes, in the department of Tarija (within the First Autonomous Region of Great Chaco).

The launch of this checkpoint will benefit 22.298 families, as it promotes the facilitation of procedures for the import and export of goods, generating greater commercial movement at the border, according to official information.

The work began in October 2020. The first phase included the construction of roads with embankments, improved subgrade, rigid pavement, drainage, installation of an external drinking water network, an external sanitary sewer network, installation of an electrical network and a prefabricated perimeter wall.

In the second phase, the construction of the import blocks, the customs warehouse with its respective offices, drinking water services, electricity, fire protection network, storm drainage, air conditioning, gas distribution, telephone, security cameras and fire alarms were completed.  
 
Finally, the metal structure for the heavy transport control area, buses and light vehicles was placed, followed by the blocks for the import and export areas, housing, dining room, waste block, electrical substation, gas tank protection booths, gauging platforms, storage tanks and a wastewater treatment plant.
