Central America: DUCA-F collection mechanism comes into effect as of April 1

-

As of April 1, 2023, the following will come into force: US$3 fee by electronic transmission of the DUCA-F to countries in the Central American area, which includes Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala. Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.

According to official sources, the measure is derived from the incorporation of the computer platforms currently managed by the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) for carrying out all intraregional trade operations.

It is worth mentioning that SIECA is the regional entity in charge of the correct application of the legal instruments of the economic integration process in Central America, and carries out the functions assigned to it by its highest body, the Council of Ministers of Economic Integration (COMIECO).

Under the protection of the Resolution No. 471-2022 (COMIECO-CII), SIECA will receive the aforementioned amount from tomorrow (01.04.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) for the service it provides for each DUCA-F transmitted electronically through computer platforms that administers.

The official communication indicated that the objective of the contribution is the sustainability of the technological platforms that support regional trade, and clarified that the sum “does not imply a fundamental change in the transmission process, only a user will have to be created and a balance acquired.”

«To implement this charge, a virtual platform has been developed (www.customs-controlsaldo.sieca.int) with the mechanism for exporters and customs civil service assistants to make the respective payment easily," SIECA highlighted.
