Paraguayan authorities approve a protocol for commercial flights with Uruguay

The National Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (Dinac) reported this Monday (24.08.2020) that the protocol for commercial travel between Uruguay and Paraguay has been approved by national authorities.

According to the Paraguayan Information Agency, The document is expected to be approved by the Uruguayan authorities in order to implement the Pilot Plan for flights between both countries.

Dinac President Félix Kanazawa reported on Monday that the protocol between Uruguay and Paraguay was approved to allow commercial or corporate flights, but not for private flights.

«For private flights, another protocol will be issued, this would be for businessmen who want to come to the country to invest or specialist technicians who need to come to the country for a company or industry or to carry out some type of update to the machines or software.He said.

In that context, Kanazawa said that, to date, There are two companies interested in doing that route. which are, for the national flag Paranair and the Uruguayan flag Amazonas Uruguay.

He stated that for The execution of the new project, Dinac is awaiting the response of its Uruguayan peers, Since on Paraguay's side, the health protocol for this type of (commercial) flights has been drawn up by a multidisciplinary team but led by the Ministry of Public Health, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), the National Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur), the National Chancellery, among other institutions.

«The Ministry of Health prepared the protocol aligned with what is recommended by the World Health Organization and the Civil Aviation Organization", Kanazawa explained this Monday, in an interview with Radio Nacional del Paraguay.

The director said that the flights would take place once the Uruguayan and Paraguayan authorities jointly approve the protocols.

To conclude he said that for what The passenger who will make the trips must have a series of essential requirements for disembarking in both countries, such as, for example, having a negative Sars – CoV 2 laboratory result (maximum 72 hours old), having international medical insurance, in addition to completing a health card and the sworn declaration form for the application of health measures, among others.

It is important to note that these flights will only connect the cities of Asunción-Montevideo, from the international airports “Silvio Pettirossi” in Paraguay, and “Carrasco” in Uruguay.
