The Ministry of Economy reported on Thursday (14.11.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) that the National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa) of Argentina and the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) of Chile are promoting the implementation of the Electronic health certification to strengthen trade in livestock products between both countries.
The initiative aims to replace paper health certificates with internationally harmonized digital versions. This change seeks to reduce the risk of document fraud, save resources, speed up the release of goods and improve the efficiency of procedures in bilateral trade..
Within the framework of this effort, the president of Senasa, Pablo Cortese, and the national director of SAG, José Guajardo Reyes, signed a cooperation agreementThe agreement establishes that both organizations will work on the exchange of information, the design of electronic certificates and the tests necessary to guarantee the operation of the system, followed by a gradual transition from the analog to the digital format.
The project is supported by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Permanent Veterinary Committee of the Southern Cone (CVP), with the intention of extending this technological solution to the entire region for products of animal origin.
It should be noted that Argentina and Chile They already use electronic certificates for products of plant origin, which demonstrates the viability of this tool in the commercial field.
