Argentina will chair the Binational Entity for the Agua Negra Tunnel (EBITAN), which aims to plan the construction of this project that will link the country with Chile, after that position was transferred from the neighboring nation to José Luis Lodeiro, an official of the Ministry of Transport.
Until now, the presidency was held by the Republic of Chile through Dr. Enrique Álvarez Jaqué and was to be handed over to Argentina once the prequalification procedure was concluded. Lodeiro serves as National Director of Contracts for the Secretariat of Transport Works.
"It is a source of pride that our ministry is leading the entity in this new stage of the process. The construction of the tunnel will consolidate an international road corridor that is essential for the transportation of cargo and people between both countries," said Guillermo Dietrich, Minister of National Transportation.
He continued: "We are in a new context of international cooperation, with more and more opportunities to find transport and development solutions in an articulated way, continuing with the process of reintegration."
The bidding processes are carried out by EBITAN, which is made up of Chilean and Argentine representatives, including two officials from the Ministry of Transport of the Nation, an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a representative from the province of San Juan.
From today,#EBITAN will be chaired by an Argentine representative ► https://t.co/6O6GEz0uyF.
