The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) will inaugurate tomorrow, Tuesday (19.6.2018), a new Integrated Control Area (ACI) in the city of Uspallata, a border crossing in the province of Mendoza through which nearly 300 thousand trucks pass each year.
The AFIP statement indicates that the ACI Uspallata is one of the most important works in foreign trade between Argentina and Chile, which will allow a Improving general transit conditions and border control between both countries, among other aspects.
What includes
The new checkpoint, which required an investment of close to $130 million pesos, includes new cabins access and exit of the complex, with paved entrance ramps and inspection bridges, in addition to two scales for weighing of the charges, delimitation and ordering of the truck parking.
The 20 hectares of the property will have the capacity to park 500 trucks. In addition, a special area for dangerous loads was installed, as well as security cameras throughout the property and four kennels for the use of dogs trained to detect narcotics and foreign currency.
What will be achieved
With these improvements, it will be possible to go from the current two access routes (one for trucks coming from Argentina and another for those coming from Chile) to 10 ways, six at the entrance gate and four at the exit gate.
Access key
This is a key border crossing where most international trade flows to or from Chile and other countries, considering that trade between Argentina and the trans-Andean country alone grew from US$3000 to US$6.000 million between the first four months of last year and the same period in 2018.
