The national airline Aerolíneas Argentinas announced on Monday (26.5.2019) that it has cancelled all its flights for Wednesday, May 29, due to a strike by unions that oppose the economic policies of center-right President Mauricio Macri.
The strike involves aeronautical unions representing employees working on the ground and in flights.
Aerolíneas Argentinas said in a statement that the strike will affect 330 flights and some 37.000 passengers.
"Affected passengers now have the option of exchanging their tickets for other dates or destinations within a period of 30 days, through the same means by which they purchased them. They may also request a refund of the sums paid.", Aerolíneas Argentina emphasized.
The general strike, which affects Argentina's transport and financial sectors, will take place amid a crisis caused by high inflation and a decline in economic activity.
This is the second strike in a month. The last protest, which took place on April 30, saw Aerolíneas Argentinas announce that the strike forced it to cancel 350 flights and would affect 22.000 passengers.
