-

The joint work of the Intellectual Property, Money Laundering and Drug Trafficking Division and the Arrival Cargo Department of the Uruguayan Customs, through the Integrated Customs Intelligence System, allowed the seizure of soccer balls and wallets in alleged violation of the Trademark Law, for an approximate value of 1.320.000 Uruguayan pesos (50.000 dollars), in the Port of Montevideo.

Officials carried out a seizure of a 40-foot container from the Florida Module of the Port of Montevideo that was in transit from China, bound for Paraguay.

After carrying out the corresponding inspection, customs officers detected allegedly counterfeit products, with designs of footballs from the 2018 Russia World Cup, sporting well-known brands such as Adidas and Telstar.

In addition, Chloe branded handbags were found, with designs by the Louis Vuitton and Gucci brands.

These products could be found in alleged violation of the Trademark Law and/or others whose value amounts to 1.320.000 Uruguayan pesos (50.000 dollars).

After consulting with the legal representative of the brands regarding the designs allegedly affected, the corresponding complaint was filed with the courts.
