The National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT) of Peru and the National Customs Directorate (DNA) of Uruguay signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement for their Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs, which will streamline trade flows between the two countries by simplifying customs procedures, streamlining imports and exports, and contributing to greater competitiveness by improving risk management and security systems in the logistics chain.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday (14.03.2018) during the 4th Global Conference on Authorized Economic Operators, an event organized by the World Customs Organization (WCO) that takes place from March 14 to 16, 2018 in the city of Kampala, Republic of Uganda, Africa.

The National Deputy Superintendent of Customs, Rafael García Melgar, and the National Director of Customs of Uruguay, Enrique Canon Pedragosa, highlighted that this agreement will allow for the adoption of modern measures and schemes that will facilitate bilateral foreign trade.

The signing of this agreement will consolidate the efforts of the Customs of Peru and Uruguay to be considered world-class, strengthening strategic alliances that guarantee an efficient service, reducing logistics times and costs for foreign trade operators.

Please note that the Authorized Economic Operator is a global accreditation to prove compliance with certain measures related to security and good practices in the international supply chain of goods.
