Dubai Customs launched on Wednesday (01.07.2020) the personal radiation detector "Kashif" as part of its efforts to provide a healthy and safe environment for its staff, the entity reported.
The new device will alert frontline inspection officers of any radiation overexposure. The safe annual limit of exposure to ionizing radiation is 2 ml of SievertThis percentage can be detected through accumulated readings in the system and helps inspectors do their job in a safe environment.
“We follow international standards in this system to ensure that our inspection officers are safe at all times,” said Eng. Adel Al Suwaidi, Director of Technical Support Department.

“The personal radiation detector (Kashif) is a necessity for the frontline inspection officer who will detect, read and document your exposure level throughout the year following world-class standards approved by the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.
Certain features that include Small size, multifunctionality and light weight make “Kashif” stand out from other detectors.

Al Suwaidi explained that the system collects the readings from each of the inspectors and displays the radiation level for each of the inspectors.
