Bolivian Customs to implement digital signature for importers

-

The president of Bolivian Customs, Marlene Ardaya, announced that she will implement digital signatures for Bolivian importers, the aim of which is to modernize and facilitate foreign trade operations.

"We are the first institution that manages its computer system with a Digital Signature. Remember that last year we already implemented the issue of exports and this year the challenge is imports." said Ardaya.

He assured that a diagnosis has been made that allows us to have the initial design and that, “accompanied by the Customs board, we are already planning the pilots. It is the first management objective that we hope will be followed up by social movements.”

The Digital Signature in exports implied a radical reduction in time. A normal export took between 6 and 10 days for certificates, today it is between 30 and 60 minutes.; In addition, it avoids the use of paper, as it is managed by computer.

During the Public Accountability Report, the President of the Customs Office highlighted that 22 companies operating in the country have become Authorized Economic Operators, a status that is available to exporters whose clearance is safe and reliable.
