Human capital is the focus of the latest edition of the OMA's flagship magazine

-

The World Customs Organization (WCO) published the Edition 100 from its flagship magazine, which contains a selection of articles focused on human capital.

The new publication of 2023, entitled “Managing knowledge”, begins with the words of Kunio Mikuriya, Secretary General of the WCO, on how to nurture the next generation: promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and professional pride in Customs.

To this end, the first article collects the results of a survey carried out by PwC Switzerland and provides insights into how today’s organizational leaders can address workforce challenges such as retention or skills shortages.

Then, an article from the Qatar Customs explains how the Administration developed its knowledge management strategy and various initiatives that contributed to its implementation. Among other things, it also highlights the need to establish clear goals and objectives and to ensure that all employees understand what knowledge management means.

Additionally, the International Network of Customs Universities presents trends in customs university programs, emphasizing the evolution in the types of topics covered and the learning models used.

On the other hand, China Customs presents its training strategy and describes recent initiatives to identify, collect, create, share and transfer knowledge across the Administration.

Added to the above, the Serbian Customs outlines the steps it has taken to empathize with employees, develop their sense of belonging and pride, and create a culture of knowledge.

Last but not least, the publication includes two items which examine the practices used by actors in gathering and sharing knowledge to address the risk-laden field of customs knowledge.

The WCO publication is available in paper and digital versions for reading on mobile devices. (Copy 1/2023: Knowledge Management, PDF version)
