The European Union has concluded the health audit of Argentine citrus fruits

The National Service of Health and Agri-Food Quality (Senasa) which concluded on Friday (10.03.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) the official visit of a delegation from the Directorate General for Health and Food Safety of the European Union (DG-SANTE), after auditing the Argentine system of official control and certification of citrus fruits exported to that destination.

Authorities indicated that the European delegation visited production facilities and packaging plants in Between Rios and Tucuman, He held meetings with officials from the health authorities of both regions, with representatives from the export production sector and with specialists from the Agrícola Concordia experimental stations of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) and Agroindustrial Obispo Colombres (EEAOC), in Tucumán.

"The auditors evaluated the operation, organization, structure, inspection and control systems in the field, packaging and at the exit point, the training of field monitors and packaging inspectors, the preventive management measures implemented in the field for quarantine pests of concern to the EU, with special emphasis on black spot, as well as the operation of the Citrus Traceability Computer System (SITC), the management and maintenance of the program's records," Senasa said.

In view of this, the organization anticipated that "the authorities said that Argentina has implemented a robust export program in line with EU regulatory requirements." They also highlighted the permanent adjustments at the different control points to minimize the risk of detection of quarantine pests at the destination.

«In approximately 30 days, Senasa will receive the preliminary report of the audit results.“, the statement concluded.
